How to leave Wellington Airport Carpark Faster… #lifehack

How…

As you drive up to the Carpark entry barrier arms:

  • Grab your credit card (or debit card)
  • DON’T push the button, instead – insert your card straight into the card slot on the entry ticket pod (the slot that normally gives you your ticket), then your card pops back out
  • Barrier arms open up
  • Drive in – park.
Have lots of hugs with the people you love that you have come to pick up!
  • Then…

When it’s time to leave – DON’T go the payment machine and line up with everyone else the ‘old fashioned way’…you know, in the wind, in the queue’s…skip that.

  • Jump in the car
  • Drive to the EXIT
  • Insert the same credit card you used at the entry into the exit pod (into the slot you normally insert the paid ticket into) – it charges you automatically what’s owed – zip-zap-zip
  • Barrier arm goes up – your on your way faster than ever!”

Voila!

I’ve been doing this for months now and it’s fabulous and a huge time saver.  I’ve been telling everyone, as not many people know about it.

No scrumaging around for change in the backseat of your car.
No lining up for the payment machine in the freezing cold ‘whipping through the underneath carpark wind coming all the way from Antartica wind’ as the whole plane load of passengers make their payments.
No ‘lost’ tickets that you put in that ‘safe place’ so you wouldn’t loose it.

Easy as.

More info here on the Wellington Airport website http://www.wellingtonairport.co.nz/parking-and-transport/parking/
Amex, Diners Club, Visa and Master Card credit cards are accepted.

Have you used the this system before at the airport?

This sounds like a great tip – will definitely try to remember this next time I’m parking at the airport! Thanks for sharing!
